Meet Laurie, The Parent Prep's Pro Doula. Laurie is the epitome of a Boy Mom. Together with her husband their family includes four boys; a preteen, a set of preschool twins, and a toddler. Her passion for children and infants can be seen through her volunteer work with Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization and the Junior League of Houston.
Laurie discovered postpartum doula work just after the birth of her own sons. Although she considered herself well educated and empowered throughout her pregnancy and birth, she felt that culturally there was a lack of information about the challenges that present in the “fourth trimester”. Realizing this physical and emotional healing post-birth support was exactly what she needed during her own postpartum period, she reshaped her career path to honor this vulnerable space for other new mothers and families.
As a Postpartum Doula, Laurie is passionate about helping parents navigate the first few weeks and months of their journey while providing warm and empathetic care. By offering evidence-based information along with her own personal mom experience, her genuine hope is that every new family feels empowered to ask for and receive the support that they deserve while working under her care. Laurie is not only dedicated in assisting expecting families, but as an ordained minister she serves in her passion as a wedding officiant as well. From wedding marriages to baby carriages - and a lot of the in between - she truly finds much joy in supporting others in their life journeys.
Laurie is certified by Childbirth International for Effective Communication and is ExpertRating certified as a Postpartum Doula - Expert Level Professional. She holds an active certificate in Infant and Child CPR, and received her Bachelors of Science degree from DePaul University.
